About Ryzhkovo (short)
Since 1997 in Saint-Petersburg region, in Volhov area,
in village Ryzhkovo placed on river Syas’, in 5 kilometers
from Ladoga lake developed initiative “School house”
There was a big 3 stages house in center of village,
which was builded in 1886. Village was here many years.
That’s why there is a name “School house”.
In 1997 school was moved in another building,
and old school house stayed empty for a sometime,
until one Stainer Штайнер??? teachers family from Saint-Peterburg,
Ekaterina Shihalieva and Boris Sukhorukov buy this house,
for make a place where young students can do some good work.
The main ideas were:
Observing a nature,
Practical work in the garden, forest and with animals.
To make a contact with a village live, village history and how it looks now.
Working in different workshops, and practical contact with a different crafts.
Work with handicap people and helping them.
Building ecological houses, with using natural materials.
Unfortunately 24 November 2001 year. Old school house was burned.
But in that time was already active cooperation with Norwegian organization ecological builders – BRO, which already almost finish together with school students and volunteers from different countries – a new 2 stages straw bale house.
In continue of cooperation with BRO, Svetlana, and Volounteers and school clases from differeте countries, here was made a lot off good things, and much more will be made in future.
